My first BM20 brew?

Unread postby Mr O » Sat Feb 21, 2015 10:09 am

Well, my BM20 arrives in a few weeks and I'm wondering what to do as my first brew?
I like American pale ale, IPA / Imperial IPA. Porters, stouts.. Etc. I'm not a huge fan of English bitters but I might try one in the future. I won't be making and lager, period!! ;)

So I'm thinking as a start- a nice hoppy American Pale Ale?
Has anyone got a recipe they can share / recommend?

Cheers,
Mr O

My first 2 brews are tried and tested favourites; Seymour's Citra Gold & Dennis King's Galaxy Delight. Both APA's and both have had rave reviews. The Citra Gold is in the fermenter now. The Galaxy will be next. :-)

Hi Mr O,

This one's my favourite, taken from the Aussie Home Brewer recipe forum called "Little Fellas Pale Ale" which is a clone of the Australian beer, Little Creatures Pale Ale. I have made it 6 times and it is a cracker!!
I'm not sure where you're from, so if you're not familiar with the Joe White Malt, just sub for any Pale Malt and Wheat Malt.

Cheers Andy,

I'm from the UK.

I will get the ingredients sorted for that and it's looking likely to be my first brew :beerbang:

Thanks again.....

I forgot to add that I like the look of the IBU count

Are the hops whole hops?

Hello Andy,

Just a quick update:

I'm actually going to brew a clone of Brewdogs Punk IPA for my first brew.(it came as a pack of 2 brews so if I feck one up ive got another to go at) Also It's my missis favourite beer of the moment. She is Dutch, so to be converted from a sweet malty beer drinker to a hop head without too much trouble is a good thing.

I am still going to brew your recipe and I'm looking forward to it a lot. I'm scouring the ingredients this week...if pack one of the punk clone goes ok I will brew your recipe soon after (and keep the 2nd punk pack in stock)
