DiY Brew Dog

Unread postby red ice » Mon Jul 11, 2016 7:04 pm

I'm a big fan of brew dog beers and was really happy when they put their whole recipe book in homebrew format and published it online

https://www.brewdog.com/diydog

I'm working my way through several recipes and wanted to share my experience

I did the DeaD pony club clone and its superb. Rather than messing around with stepped mashes I mashed in and mashed for the whole session at the required temp then ramped for boil. Easy! I did the recipe exactly. Not tweaking for the braumaister profile I have in BSmith

I ferment in a ss chronical and then kegged it with some gelatin. Beautiful beer. Very happy

Highly recommend trying them. They also use California ale yeast a lot so I've been kegging, freeing the fermentor up and brewing and then re pitching yeast which I removed from the bottom tap of the conical! Saving money. Perfect for a tight scotsmans like me!

I brewed the "Elvis Juice" Clone from the DIY Brewdog PDF.

With the peel of 6 Oranges in the boil and of 6 Grapefruits in dry hopping. It came out great. But differtly than the commercial version. Mine was more tart, and lighter in colour.

I'm just about to crack my trashy blonde keg. Will report back! Will you make it again?

Take it easy. Don't crack the trashy blonde. Gently she goes.
