Start with a simple beer recipe, and a one step mash.
There are plenty of recipes out there to attempt.
Program your BM to what suits the recipe - maybe for example a mash temp at 66 ???
Boil set at say 101.
Your 20 L malt pipe is used to make a smaller batch - like 20 litres.
Did you do any research before you purchased?

Just for clarification: the short malt pipe is meant for 25l not 20l!

You could mash like above, although I don't see the point of such a short 73°C step.

Check put the Mash Schedules section of the forum, as well as the recipes section. This might get you started.

Hi Michael

See my posting under "gravity and volume simulator" re my water volumes for the 20l short pipe in the 50l BM.

Re mash profiles I went directly with multi step mash profiles because that's what the BM does best. Check the mash profiles re type of body the recipe calls for.

Hi Michael,

I think Niels is right. Here is what the Speidel website says :
"For 25 l brew with 50-litre Braumeister"

Maybe your dealer website editor got confused between the short pipe (10L) for the BM20 and the short pipe (25L) for the BM50.

cheers,
Jacques.

The official documentation states that it is a 25l malt pipe.

I confirm that too.. Have an email from Ralf at Speidel stating its 25.

I also thought it was 20. This has come up so many times now on the forum that perhaps Speidel need to address this misunderstanding. If so many people are assuming it's 20 then this kind of points to a message and documentation problem from Speidel.

I don't understand why this confusion is there. It is half the original pipe, so 25l.

It is also clearly stated in the Speidel brochure and on their website: http://speidels-braumeister.de/shop/en/ ... r-50-litre
