10L Braumeister Grain Capacity

Unread postby cpsmusic » Sat Feb 23, 2019 3:26 am

I'm just doing a batch with my 10L Braumeister. The recipe is for a malty English ale and has a total grain bill of 2.975 kg.

When I was filling the malt pipe I was a bit concerned that all the grain wasn't going to fit! In the end it did fit but it was tight!

Just wondering if there's any sort of rough upper limit to the 10L's grain capacity?

I didn't fill mine more than with 2.6 kg, usually 2.5.
I can't imagine it would be possible to fill it more without getting even more issues with efficiency than there already is. But then I've never really became friend with my BM10 as it was.

As far as I know, the maximum malt quantity for the 10 L Braumeister is about 2.8 kg ?

I have experimented with many different loads, and found that about 2.4 kg works best for me.
I do my own malt grinding and prefer to crush very coarsely.
My Original Gravity ends up mostly with about 13º - 13.5º Plato - 1.053 - 1.055.

Final outcome is always outstanding and beyond imagination, absolutely delicious.
