WiFi module

Unread postby Schmurf » Wed Sep 19, 2018 6:30 pm

Hello, I'm about to purchase a Braumeister 10L variant. At the online-shop I'm looking at they present the wifi-module as an accessory to the 20 litre variant, but I have been under the impression the wifi module is generic for all of the 10L, 20L and 50L variations. Am I misunderstanding something? Do I need to find a wifi-module exclusive for the 10 litre variant? Funny thing is that the online shop only show accessories for the 20L and 50L, nothing for the 10L.

It is generic for all 3. They are not that reliable from previous posts.

Are you sure it's useful other than firmware update?
I personally found no other benefit. :?

Yes,it is expensive but i like to keep my firmware up to date in the Braumeister and it can update the firmware in the WiFi module as well. :drink:

Thanks for the replies. I will give it some extra thought wether it's necessary or not.

I can see some uses of it, like monitoring and remote control. I also prefer doing things on a computer, where I get a bigger view of things, than fiddling with a tiny display unit. All in all, if I'm about to spend quite a hefty sum of money for the BM (although their cheapest one) I was thinking I might as well invest in the Wi-Fi module too.

No offence  I'm aware of the spelling mistake but typing on my mobile makes me less attentive to errors, for a couple of reasons

Take into account that you will be busy cleaning, taking measurements along the process, checking and taking notes, preparing sparge water, measuring hops, prepare and sanitise the chiller and fermenter, get the yeast ready. There is no much time to lay down. The most important information from BM will be how much time you have until next step. In terms of inputting the recipe, you will do it only once and then just make minor corrections if needed. I recommend having some brew days with the BM and then to evaluate if the module is really needed.

I sold my wifi module. For a start, the connection often dropped out. It had no audio alert system so I found I had to keep looking at my Iphone. Just as easy to set the timer on my phone.
I wouldn't recommend getting one.
