Attached to this post is the English translation of my brewing sheet. Obviously, it is very particular to my own process and preferences, and a lot of this is really duplicating what BeerSmith already does for me. I find it to be a nice stand-alone record of my brews, though, and in particular I use this sheet to keep track of my "brew house parameters".

The tab called "Brew Log" was originally intended for printing so that I could bring a physical sheet to my brewing session. In practice, however, I always bring my laptop, so it has evolved over time to include som on the fly calculations and estimates that I find useful. The most important part of this tab is the various measurements on top. The bottom part of this tab shows the steps of my brewing process, including time estimates, temperature measurements etc. Not as vital as the other measurements, but being "type A" I always make sure I record every little detail. ;-)

There are also tabs for fermentation and bottling, though not as detailed.

As the brew progresses, the "Key Figures" tab gets more and more complete, and after bottling day I have all the facts in place and "Key Figures" shows me what I most often need to know: ABV, efficiency, loss, timing etc. This, in turn, is used as input to tweak the parameters for the next brew.

By the way, the "parameters" used in the various calculations are defined in a separate tab.

Nesto, Cervantes and Jervell: Thanks for sharing! I still have to come up with a "brew log template" of my own and yours are inspiring!

Nesto,

Your brewing procedures are a very useful template. Thanks.

Out of interest, which fermenting vessel are you using?

David

I have a 7.5 Gallon (28 liters) Heated and Cooled Conical Fermenter from MoreBeer. Love it!
