So far I've been using my local water report and Bru'nwater to guess my Mash Ph. I'm wondering how far off it actually is.

That's exactly what I used to do as well.

However, due to the monsoon, I get quite a bit of seasonal variability in water.

Hence I decided to measure vs taking educated guesses.

The tip on my Milwaukee PH56 meter just died after about 12 months. I was storing in the Storage Solution. Milwaukee recommends using the Storage Solution but you can use 4.0 calibration solution. If you notice your meter taking longer than usual to get to the result you might need a new tip. I was re calibrating the unit thinking that was the problem. I started getting a WRNG error while recalibrating. Nothing in the manual about this error. I emailed support and was told the tip needed to be replaced. My tap water is PH 7. If I brew with dark malts the PH comes into range. If I brew with light malts I add Gypsum or lately I have been using 5.2 brewing salts. I use the meter to test the PH of the finished beer also.

Sounds like one year is about the lifespan of an electrode:

Amazon follows local tax authority's guidelines: http://www.iras.gov.sg/irashome/page04.aspx?id=10832

For items that exceed SGD 400 (~USD 320), a 7% GST tax is imposed.
