Pump

Unread postby blisse » Tue Sep 04, 2018 7:31 am

Recently when i cleaned the pump i noticed this.
Is this recognizable or is this not normal? Will this be a problem for future brews with the braumeister ? I have only cleaned my Braumeister with Enzybrew 10. I left the enzybrew in the Braumeister for an hour (15-30 minutes with the pump on).

I do not see anything you should be worring about, or maybe I do not understand what you feel is wrong.
If it is about the brass coloration, then it is totally fine. Normal brass oxidation.

Yes - nothing to worry about - mine looks a bit worse than this. Considering the price of a BM it's a shame the pump head is not stainless steel.

Mine was dark brown until I used PBW to clean up after brewing today. Now everything thing is shiny again. PBW has done a better job than any other cleaning agent that I have used.

Good point Richard.
Mine gets flushed, as it pumps all the shite away and then I strip it for a check.

How are you cleaning it? Disassemble & spray or soaking the whole BM?

I cleaned the worst of the crud out of the BM after brewing then added a few litres of water and some PWB, set it to heat to 50c and left it for half an hour. Then I emptied it, rinsed it and then stripped the pump to see it all shiny and brass coloured.

I quite fancy making a short spray head to plug into the pump.

This might be the additive for the cleaning.

Does it clean the element or do you still end up scrubbing it?
