Malt pipe seal

Unread postby Fliegende Gans » Sun Sep 02, 2018 1:05 pm

Hi all,

The last couple brews the bottom seal on the malt pipe is coming of when romiving the malt pipe and the seal seems to be tangling itself around the elements! Anyone else having or had a similar problem?

It's a BM50 with both small and large malt pipes. Had the problem with both!

Cheers.

No issue with mine (BM50). If you say that you have the issue with both pipes, I would guess that it is a seal issue. Either it is old or it has a defect.

The only fix I see is to order a new order or to contact Speidel if it is a new unit.

I don’t know if this helps but some time ago I noticed that the malt pipe seal was a loose fit. I read on the forum some advice not to store the malt pipe with the seal on but to take it off. I found that this simple fix stopped the seal from having a loose fit. I guess it’s to do with the seal being stretched when stored.

+1. This is caused by them being left on.
Everytime you use it, remove wash&dry and refit next time.

I always insert the dry malt tube, back into the BM for storage and then both plates, and then drop all the bits on top.
