Speidel were supplying a snap fit moisture vent plug for a diy fix a while ago when they were interested in trying to find a fix, failed to make any difference to screen misting whatsoever, just added another hole in the controller.

I agree, but is the one recommended by grooves a viable solution?

Don't know, as far as I know these type of vents are only effective for protection of hermetically sealed electronic enclosures, the BM controller is not completely airtight.

What about we try to get them some "publicity" - anyone fancy doing a youtube of the condensation?

If these were cars there would be a recall !!

Quite. For the moment, my unit is OK, but the minute this starts, it will be sent back and legal proceedings will commence if an immediate replacement is not forthcoming.

Why is there not a Spiedel representative on this Forum?

Anyone out there?

IMO I think they keep a watchful eye. You only have to watch the mods on the latest models - normally they are stuff we have been discussing & trialling month/years before.

You must remember the millions of posts about how the BM really needed twinkly lights :D :D :D

If my understanding of the law is right (Sale of Goods Act, etc.) you can't take Speidel to court. This is because Speidel didn't sell the machine to you. You have to take the retailer to court. I threatened Brewuk with legal action as the seller, but they were as equally uninterested.

Bonsoir,

I'm no lawyer, but I think were talking about the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (in the UK anyway).

Replaced since 2015 by the Sale of Goods Act. Interesting reading.

"You have six years to take a claim to court for faulty goods in England, Wales and Northern Ireland; in Scotland you have five years."

Ah, but yes - the complaint must go back to the seller, not the maker.

Ah, but yes - the complaint must go back to the seller, not the maker. Except for cars, which are subject to a different consumer law.

Get together and hit ALL retailers who have sold one that fails.

Controller Screen Condensation

But would the seller really turn up to the small claims court when they know they would likely lose. Circuit boards and non distilled water do not mix, they cannot get away from that fact and that only some units are affected.
It's very cheap to do this and one judgment would force Speidel to rectify the issue for current and future units. My guess is that judgement would likely be an undefended one.
