Controller Screen Condensation

Unread postby danwlx » Sat Jan 16, 2016 11:38 pm

Hi all,

I have the 2015 BM20L and have done 5 brews on it so far. For all brews I have experienced condensation forming behind the screen of the controller. Any one else gave this or have any ideas of how to remove the moisture or the screen itself so that I can clear it?

Cheers

I actually have the same problem on the left side of the controller. Usually it goes away, but it's not fun to see it. Worries me a bit.

Remove and put it in a warm dry place for 5 days then refit.

Water and electrics don't mix this needs fixing. You could reassemble with a small bag on dry silicone beads if there is room!

My BM was used for its first brew yesterday, I've had it stored in the house, but also had this condensation appear mid brew. My screen has also locked up and I cannot use the abort button. Seems like there is a problem with these new 2015 controllers!

If these are all 2015 controllers this is a warranty issue. Perhaps best not to DIY

Also a 2015 20l, same issue with condensation. I noticed on my last 2 brews.

Ditto... although I have only noticed it the last brew which was about 4 months since the last.

Same issue, condensation left side below on 2015 20L
However it goes away during brew process.
My BM is stocked in-house, dry & warm.

Controller Screen Condensation

Mine is kept inside all the time. The condensation appears on the left hand side mainly, but doesn't disappear with use. It's annoying, visually, but is it doing any damage? Has anyone asked Speidel their thoughts? Or possible suggestions they have?

Same here; 2015 BM 20L, always kept indoors, during brewing kondensation on the left side of the screen. Till now I had no problems.

Beginning to sound like a design fault to me. Perhaps some vents are required.

I'm presuming the screen area (the gap inside where the condensation occurs) is sealed? That would be the only logical way during the heat of brewing enough temp difference would occur to cause the condensation each time. If so, perhaps a way of allowing some venting? Although with washing the BM and occasional spillage maybe the reason it's sealed in the first place? I think I could live with it if Speidel could confirm no damage is taking place. I think some direction from them is required. Niels, do you have time to contact them?
