Just thought i would put up a few pics showing my setup.... in december i got my italian brewing licence. This must be one of the smallest registered breweries in europe!

Great, nice to see!
Congratulations with your license. Now you're hobby is official!

I plan more or less the same: I hope my official mini-brewery will open at the end of the year. But that will be twice as 'big': I'll work with 2 BM50's; so Bira: you will remain the smallest! (although in Belgium there were at least 2 official breweries with a BM50)

Good luck!

Congratulations!

Looks good - nice to see a bucket & mop in the pictures. Essential equipment for a brewer! :)

That's a nice setup you have there. Do you mind me asking what sort of volume you are hoping to produce?

Gert: good luck with getting your micro brewery up and running.... i would be interested to contact other official breweries using the 50l BM.. do you have a link to those in belgium?

Stevodevo: re volume - i hope to eventually run the 50l BM 'flat out'.... ie two brews per day... every day! this should make about 1800 litres a month.
I bottle in half litre bottles and operate on a return and refill system - currently there is around 600 bottles in the system... with another 180 on order.

You may be able to take advantage of this method....viewtopic.php?f=8&t=703

Good luck with your brewery

Dicko: thanks for the link... i had heard of double mashing, but for high gravity beers ... not to increase quantity. I will certainly give it a try!

Gert: thanks for the links.... any one else know of official breweries using the 50ltr BM?

Fantastic - do you have any pics of the fermenting side of things. Best of luck, this is the sort of thing I want to do in retirement (maybe not brew everyday) :D
To brew or not to brew, that would be a stupid question !

The fermentation takes place in a custom built cold room - insulated panels fitted into a cave carved into the rock underground. The temperature range seems good for fermenting my beers... so i didnt bother with the expense of a compressor/condenser!
I believe in brewing seasonal beers... varying the recipe according to the natural temperature occuring in the cold room. At the moment the thermometer is showing 12.8degC.... just right for lagering!

Very well done bbbirra, a beautiful and neat brew space. And there is something very romantic about brewing in a genuine cave.
