Royco's BM Stand and Gantry

Unread postby royco » Sat Nov 01, 2014 2:28 pm

I finally got this thing cobbled together, now to clear out the room and do a brew on Monday! I am fortunate to have set up a small business for my daughter making aluminium outdoor furniture so fabricating the stand was easy. The hardest part was drilling the holes through the 3mm SS plate (using a hand drill).
The simple gantry was made by riveting 4mm strips of polyethylene to the top and two sides of the crossbeam plus polyethylene strips on the inside of the U-channel. It slides easily.

Please click on the pics to get the bloody things upright  Note: I fixed the orientation. - Niels

Niels, do iPhone pics have to be taken in landscape to get them properly orientated? This seems to be a general problem.

That's a really nice piece of equipment. You can be proud of this! Good job!

I really like the idea of a gantry to move the malt pipe next to the BM.

It is indeed a common problem to detect the orientation of cell phone pictures. Either editing them in a software tool or taking landscape pictures solves the problem.

A bit off-topic, but NewLine has made a nice pull out construction for his fermentor.

Thanks Dicko, but don't be fooled. All the mess was moved "off-camera" for the pic!

Niels, ChilliMayne, a pullout floor is a great idea. I have a further challenge: I converted a small fridge which just accepts the BM 60L fermenter (after flattening out the ice-compartment/chillplate).
I built a 300mm stand for the fridge to raise it to the correct height for racking to kegs. It requires 2 good men and strong to lift and manoeuvre a full fermenter into the fridge!
Maybe a hoist for the fermenter...............
