Not really but one thing you must do, is fill the copper (inner) pipe with water and close up the ends really good, before you bend it to new shape.


Yes that always helps, I made a nice U bend in some solid (hard copper) pipe for a siphon once without any tools, by filling the copper pipe with very fine grained sand and just bending it by hand. There was a little bit of narrowing in the bend, but not too much, served me well for some years.

So filling the chiller with water prior to re-shaping it sounds like a solid idea...
