Relocation to Bonafide Flavors lab

In order to use wort in one of my company's product syrups, I moved the BM50 to the lab. This involved getting a buck boost transformer to boost the 208V power to 230V. At ~80 lbs, the transformer isn't something I wanted to pick up to move around, so my controls engineer pal set it up on a hand truck.

The ceiling is ~22 ft, with and 8 ft drop ceiling in the syrup room. I debated several options for mounting the hoist I previously used in my garage at home. I finally settled on mounting it on the stairladder.

Some months ago, I picked up a stainless restaurant table at auction that has the perfect size hole in the top for the BM50.

With the new set of silicone tire casters, it wheels in and out of the syrup room like a dream. I wondered about tipping the BM over to drain the last bit of wort, and discovered that it tips beautifully on the casters.

Here's the boil.

An Osaka stainless coffee filter worked well to strain the trub from the wort drained by tipping it by about 60 degrees.

First use of the 5L flask for yeast starter.

Here's a look at the red ale I brewed to commission the new kit.

ingenious use of the stair ladder. Doesn't it tend to tilt when you raise the loaded malt tube? I use an engine hoist to lift mine out, but I have been looking for an alternative method. That table is an excellent find.

Good work.

I have to say the hoist makes my mind bleed.....i would have thought it tips over or the hoist rips off the stairs?
