My Brewpub Build

Unread postby dinnerstick » Sun Jul 10, 2016 8:13 am

An announcement from chateaux dinnerstick- I am in the middle of building a brewpub in Utrecht- Brewpub de Kromme Haring at the Vechtclub XL complex in Transwijk. It's gonna be a small tasting room (~40 seats + an outdoor terrace) and an adjoining brewery (pistachio green floor in the pics); a 600L brewhouse with 600 and 1200L fermenters and lager tanks. It's been in the planning for a few years and now it's really happening. I hope to open the tasting room in late august of this year (2016) and the brewery in the autumn. We'll start with 12 taps (behind the hole in the wall at the bar will be a walk-in cold room with kegs, the taps run through the wall to the bar), serving our beers and of course other local and further-afield favorites, and we'll have some snacks as well. We're also just next to De Klub, a very popular restaurant. In the same space as us is a bakery, coffee roaster (in a loft above the bar, you can see it above in the last picture), flower/plant shop, veg box dealer. I have over the past couple weeks been piecing together the bar itself, together with my father who does excellent woodwork, from a local yew (Taxus baccata) tree. Updates to follow!
The whole project is financed from personal and friend/family investments except the last little bit, which we are crowdfunding, and it's going quite well, 80% of our target in a few weeks. If you want to join in (it's an investment with a good return) or just want to watch our silly (one-take continuous shot) video, go here:
https://crowdaboutnow.nl/krommeharing
below the video link is an english version.
If you are local, get in touch once we're open and I'll show you around the place!
All of my recipes are of course BM-20 developed!!
Cheers.

Fantastic! Congrats! It looks like an autumn drive to Utrecht will need to happen.

short but happy update: the tap wall is in! we installed few taps in just to see the bling. there are 18 holes (not meant to be a golf reference but there it is) but we can expand if needed... the tiles are framed by the same yew wood as the main bar, the bottom piece is removed as we're fitting the drip trays. the cold room will be directly behind the tap wall, so the shanks will run directly into it. more to come...

side bar / room divider. local horsechestnut (Aesculus) boards; very gnarly.

Wow dinnerstick, that is too beautiful! I love yew wood and the horse horsechestnut on the curved bar looks amazing. Beautifully fitted. I do some woodwork myself (nothing like your Dad) and I know what a huge project that must be. Tempted to get on a flight when it is done!
