New jacket

Unread postby stevodevo » Fri Mar 06, 2015 2:12 pm

Hi All,

While I've been waiting for my last BIAB brew to finsh occupying my fermenter, I've been busy studying up and making a few addons. The first was a insulation jacket made out of a car windscreen shield. I'm not the first to do this, so hopefully it works well. I'll be attempting my first dry run in the BM tomorrow in predicted 31C temps, so I'm pretty sure it won't really be essential. I've added some velcro since taking these pics to keep it all tight, and I must say it fits like a glove.

It literally took about 20 minutes to make, so when I can source a small quantity of proper roofing insulation I'm going to redo it.

Here we see it in stunning silver...

... or for getting into the Christmas spirit it can be reversed to match the tree decorations

I also used a car windscreen reflector.

It's been working well for over a year now................

Not bad for $2
Cheers
