It's either a PT100 or a PT1000, I think they changed the type of sensor 2012, so if it's newer than that it should be a PT1000. But to be sure measure the resistance, a PT1000 is 1080-1085 ohms in room temperature.

According to MoreBeer, the sensor type changed in July 2011: https://www.morebeer.com/products/braum ... -2011.html

As a component these are less than £5 - but which is it.

Are we saying that is a a PT100 before 2011 and then PT1000 after?

Got hold of a BM probe, for the current controller, carried out a few experiments in the temperature range I was interested in:-

Almost certainly a PT1000

Just to follow up a 2 wire PT1000 works.

Thanks Barneey.

If its a 2 wire PT1000 on the current controller [2015] do we think is the same for earlier versions?

No idea I'm afraid.

All it would take is for someone with an older style unit to carry out an ohm test at a range of temps to establish what it was, unfortunately I don't have the older style.

Forgot to add if wiring a 2 wire use the 2 outer prongs on the connector, leave the middle one blank.
