BM 10 Litre tap filter

Unread postby gandalf the brew » Thu Aug 02, 2018 1:29 pm

I have been playing with this idea after seeing the Springer from Bac brewing.
After several failed attempts with an all copper version I finally got one to work. Using 200 degree FDA silicon tubing
To try it out, I used hop pellets straight into the boiler and they didn't get past the filter when I transferred via plate chiller to fermenter.

Just plug it into the tap fitting under the element, it bends around following the shape. To clean it just unplug it, pull the silicon tube off and rinse it out.
I'm now making an upright filter of similar materials to plug into the BM pump inlet.

I've had no problems, the temp spec of this FDA silicone is from -60 to +200 centigrade.
It's classified usage is for: Air - Water - Vacuum - Coolant.
