I just completed upgrading my BM20 to the Plus with cooling jacket, and love the updated unit. I replaced the BM20 kettle with the Plus, reinstalling all components in the new kettle. Can't wait to test the new setup. I'll take some pictures and post them.

Wow I didn't know you could get the kettle as a spare part.

I've attached the part list I got from BrewUK when I was inquiring about a new lid.

The cooling jacket on the PLUS has been discussed at length on here, and its not positive.
Am I missing the point - is there another reason to upgrade?

Yes. I did. I needed to replace the kettle because the bottom of my old one was not 100% flat after welding a fitting and the malt pipe would not seal completely. So I decided to replace it with the Plus. I love Braumeister quality and support.

As far as how effective the cooling is, I am going to run a test today and report back.

Plenty. Can't give you the price because it was part of a few items I needed. It is not cheap. It is over 300 Euros with the new tap.

Gotcha. That makes good sense now.

I don’t think I could justify the price but if it was cheaper I would swap so that I could use the external jacket AND the IC chiller at the same time.

I agree on the price...and I can get down to 20c in <10 mins with my copper IC and the pump on.
Not sure there is any gain to be had.

Have to agree too - better to spend less money on a maxi cooler to prechill your water. You'll yet the temperature down lower and faster - and also be able to use it for its actual purpose of chilling beer from the keg to the tap...

Here is a picture of my BM20L Plus (upgraded from BM20L). The upgrade was simple, transferring everything from the BM20L kettle to the Plus kettle. Also, had to change the four studs on the malt pipe with slightly shorter ones that Speidel sent me. It makes my brewing life simpler since I live the cooling jacket connected and the lower valve is wonderful. What a great service and support Speidel has.

Looks really nice!
However when I talked to Speidel, they told that it was note possible to buy as a spare part. Wonder if you have to live in US, and not europe to get it as a spare.
