BacBrewing replacement filter discs

Unread postby uberg33k » Sat Mar 03, 2018 11:27 pm

BacBrewing has two different replacement filter discs for the Braumeister; a fine filter disc and a large mesh disc. Has anyone used both? Could you compare the two? What are the practical differences you see in performance?

TIA!

I have used both of them for my top disc. I found that the smaller mesh restricted my flow a little to much. On several occasions I had channeling and mini-fountains, after switching to the large mesh I no longer had these problems. Additionally, I found it was significantly easier to clean the larger mesh size filter. Beyond that can't really say much more whichever way you decide they are a significant improvement over the stock screens.

I use the smaller one at the top, and yes it does slow down the flow but I get a cleaner wort (no particles).
Can't say that it has upped my efficiency but I'm happy to continue using it.

I was also concerned regarding flow restrictions, so I inquired with them regarding the size of the perforations and flow restrictions. They responded that the fine mesh was equal in size of holes to the factory mesh. Mine arrive tomorrow so I will see.
