Diy hood

Unread postby Bigstew » Fri Dec 29, 2017 8:42 am

I have an old aluminium domed lid for a wok I no longer use. Its a perfect fit on my 20 litre BM. The only problem is that it is made from aluminium. Will this be ok and not taint my brew.

My understanding and experience is that it will not taint it. I cannot remember if it is acidic or alkaline extremes which cause issues, but neither of which you would experience with beer brewing.

I’m sure someone on here, maybe Mashy uses a wok as a lid.

I found this the other day when looking for copper use in brewing: http://www.reliance-foundry.com/blog/brewing-metallurgy#gref

I used a WOK lid very successfully for a couple of years.

SIT it on the stirrup.

I think there was a photo in "fast beer" too.

Lol. Clearly too much seasonal merriment.

Typo's corrected.

+ if you buy a bathroom extractor kit the grill fits the wok lid a treat.
