New mesh sieve for 20-litre BM & Springer filter.

Unread postby GianPostino » Tue Sep 22, 2015 1:29 pm

Hi all,
just seen these ready made modifications for the 20 litre Braumeister. They are made in Italy by BacBrewing & look quite good to me as I'm not into DIY.

Regards

Giancarlo

Yes. they do look pretty neat. I still manage to cut my finger on the SS filter screen just about every brew.

I love my braumeister but I'm really disapointed with speidel for the lack of quality on their mesh sieves.

Not cheap, but I like the springer filter.

He's also made a one off braumeister hop basket for whole hops which also looks expensive. He said he will be putting one for pellets on his site in the next few days.

I didn't get the issue about the SS sieves. I have always found then ok. I wash mine flat.
If you wash them like in the video.. no wonder they are sort lived.

The springer hop filter does like good.. Shiney
.... but having tried all manner of hop filters by far the best I have found is a 99p sink strainer.

Different folks different strokes.

I've not had any serious issues with them it's just from time to time I catch my hand on the loose wires. I'm a bit heavy handed so a bit of blood doesn't bother me but it would be nice not having to worry about catching my hand every time I wash them. My micro fibre cloth also sticks to them like velco every bloody time. Maybe I'm just a sucker for brand new shinny stainless steel, got to spend my hard earned money on something.

I don't like Speidel's sieves either. Probably I'm just too clumsy...

As I happen to be in Italy next week, I've ordered the mesh sieves and a Springer filter which will be delivered straight to my hotel.

Will take it on our holiday budget. Sweet .

I wash mine flat on the bottom of the sink. Tap on full. Rotate mesh. No cloth. Do one side. Rinse the sink. Repeat on the other side. Takes probably 10 seconds per side. Then spray with alcohol and hang on the malt pipe to air dry.

Really isn't an issue. Certainly no blood. Are the 2015 ones a different quality?

The screen in the you tube seems to have finer holes than the original mesh.

This may slow the wort flow and maybe affect the efficiency.

They look like a good piece pf gear and a lot more durable than the original.

I would like to order the sieves, but can't seem to find out if they ship to the Netherlands (but my Italian is horrible)
(I can't even find out if the price is for a set or one sieve) :-)
Any Italians here who can translate?

Is there an english (or dutch ;-) ) version of the website?
If there is I can't find it. The sieves look nice and the filter for emptying too.

The price is referred to one piece .
They ship through DHL so i suppose there should be no problem for sending parcels outside Italy : you might ask about that by email to the company owner who is a nice guy (and Homebrewer) who has answered all my questions in past times .
Well made products , built to last .
