Very nice photos. I'm a little worried that the wifi might be vaporware.

I'm pretty sure it's not. Speidel will make a big selling point out of it as soon as it because available.
They are still developing the client software which should be available in Q2.

I assume the Wlan hardware is already inside the controller.I see some possibilities to get the Wlan on.

-this is a shot in the dark, since they are talking about a certain date could it be that Wlan get active when a date is reached?( i saw on the foto's a date and hour)
-Someone mentioned before that there is a free connection port, what kind of port is this?can the firmware be updated with this port?
-Is there a easy way to open the controller to set a dipswitch/jumper to activate the Wlan?

Cheers

And you can change the temperature and time during boiling. I haven't tried it during mashing, so you might be able to alter your steps on the fly too...

I brewed a day and also today. I finished my brew and was getting everything ready for todays brew and was thinking a Master On/Off switch would be nice.
I added my water for today's brew yesterday and let it boil for about 10 minutes and to turn the machine off, I have to unplug it and this morning I have to plug it back in. Not that hard but an On/Off switch would be nice. I guess I can leave it on overnight and it would only be the push of one button to start the next brew.

i was the one who mentioned the additional connector. I've opened the screw cap and there is a 5 pin connector. so it was not a normal sma wifi antenna connector. In my opinion there are 2 ways of upgrading.
- upload the software into the device
- exchange the memory that holds the software in the device with new memory containing new software.

I assume that Speidel use this connector for installing their software, enable w-lan (if already fitted) is a piece of cake for them.
But whats gonna happen with the already delivered units (before the feb. update)?Does the end user need to pay for these memory swap/interface wire,...because as someone mentioned before it seems that the BM does not send any signals now.

Do you see anything that your controller is W-lan capable/ready ?

On/Off switch at your wall socket / GPO?

My guess is there is a hidden menu that requires pressing a combination of keys to activate giving you access to the WiFi setup.

Thanks for sharing the photos Niels - I see that the new controller allows to raise the temperature to 103C, as opposed to 102C limit on the old controller.

Sounds like it may translate into a more vigorous boil.

Service settings are usually accessed by holding down a combination of 1 or 2 buttons while powering on. Try holding each one down individually then powering on... if no good try 2 buttons, most probably the 2 outside ones.

Be interesting to see the service mode parameters

Try calling Speidel and asking them - just a thought !
To brew or not to brew, that would be a stupid question !
