A Trip to Speidel - Forum Meeting

Unread postby niels » Wed Aug 27, 2014 12:24 pm

In a recent e-mail conversation with Ralf from Speidel I was invited to visit Speidel when I'm in the neighbourhood. Since the Speidel factory is about 600km from my home address this will not happen easily on a Saturday afternoon. But... because of the invitation I started thinking about an idea for a forum meeting.

What about we meet in the region where Speidel is located and we visit the factory together? Since this will be a long trip for some we plan a forum meeting during a whole weekend and combine it with a visit to some local brewer(y)(ies), pub(s), ... Share some beers, thoughts, walks during the time in between.

This will not happen next week, but I was thinking about next spring (northern hemisphere :p). If there is enough interest I will pick a date and start planning some stuff. Ideas, suggestions, ... are welcome!

Niels, where is the factory located? I have searched their site but cannot find any mention of it. I am taking a river cruise through Germany this fall and get some free time.....
I wasn't planning on going for a run today but those cops came from nowhere!

Please also pencil me in for the visit, and the forum. Sweden to Germany is a 2 hour flight or so, but it would be worth it. I spend so much time with my beloved Braumeister 20l that I feel I owe it the same respect as my normal business conferences.

all the best

Would have loved to have gone, I will be in Munich in October (part of honeymoon trip), but alas I can't make the 265km journey on the time I have available.

I will however be sampling some lovely beers and hopefully visiting the Weihenstephaner abby/brewery.

The wife chose Paris, I chose munich...

I understand that not all forum members will be able to attend the meeting as a lot of you are living in the US, Australia, Asia, South-Africa, ... Flying in from all over the world would be nice, but pricey :)

Pricey especially when also having to convert with a weak currency :(

How about a video summary of the visit?

Sounds like a great get together :)

Camping? Motorbikes?

Looks like it's close to the Black Forest?
To brew or not to brew, that would be a stupid question !

"How about a video summary of the visit?"

Fritzkellerbraua's suggestion of some sort of video of the session would be great for those of us in far off distant lands

I understand that this would/could could be a significant undertaking and would also require the agreement of Speidel but if it could be organised as I have said that would be great

If there was costs involved maybe those wanting a copy could be asked to contribute something towards the costs? I would be willing to contribute

Cheers
