Sanitizer

Any discussion about non-specific Braumeister brewing techniques can be discussed here. E.g. "How to make a starter?", "What's the best way to store my grains?", "Which pH meter do you recommend?", ...

What you guys think about Chemipro Oxi as sanitizer?
Similar to Star San or just a cleaner?

Cheers

Good for cleaning, not for sanitising.
To brew or not to brew, that would be a stupid question !

Hi Tim,

Yeah, I've already read some critics about it. Bu it is not what is mentioned in some brewstores around (don't want to mention the names). quite wierd.....

What do you usually use?
I'm using Star San.

definitely not a sanitizer!

i use starsan or iodophor, both are fine. i reuse diluted starsan for a while, as long as the pH is below 3.0 it is still active.

I use Chemipro Oxy cleaner for cleaning (any cheap non-perfumed Oxi cleaner will work - apparently) and Starsan for sanitising.

I use straight sodium percarbonate for cleaning. It's the key ingredient in the 'Oxi' type cleaners and PBW. You can buy it on ebay or from the MM.

For sanitising I use the no rinse sanitiser and the non caustic cleaner/sanitiser from the MM.
When the chill sciroco blows, and winter tells a heavy tale
When pies, and daws, and rooks and crows do sit and curse the frost and snows
Then give me ale.

I use Chemipro ACID for sanitizing and have been for years. It's a blend of food-grade acids similar to star san. It works great!

My secondhand BM 20l came with a 'Speidel' cleaning set. It still contained a good quantity of Halapur MP which is very similar to PBW. It works great for cleaning the heating element and pump if you heat ~5-7l of water to 60 degrees C, add the cleaner and run the pump for 10 or 15 minutes.

Cheers,
John
