Is this a ghost ship ?

Is this a ghost ship ?

Unread postby IPA » Wed Apr 10, 2019 7:03 am

It now seems this forum is adrift without a rudder or captain. Since Niels sold his company does he still have any interest here? If not who on earth is in charge ? More to the point how can it be protected from spam posts ?

Maybe the users of this forum are confident enough with the equipment and not so many questions are coming on “how to” or new additions to the BM equipment.
I think it would be interesting to promote our recipes and techniques. I don’t see too much action in the “recipe” section of the forum and I think it deserves more attention.
Most of us brew on a regular basis so sharing the recipe, what went good and wrong is very helpful. Especially lessons learned

I have just removed the spam posts.

Unfortunately this will happen on any public forum.

As a Moderator I have limited ability to some of the administration tasks so I ask that to make it easier to remove spam posts that you refrain from commenting in the spam topics
Commenting only means that you have acknowledged their post which is what they want. It also makes it a bit harder for a moderator during the deleting process as we have to then delete your posts to eliminate any reference to the spam.

The best procedure is to hit the “REPORT” icon and leave it at that.
I will try to keep a closer eye on the forum where possible.

On the whole the forum is a great resource and genuine new members should be encouraged and supported by the more long term contributors.

Cheers

Dicko

Thanks a lot Dicko for the cleaning work.

I had worries, like many of us, that the forum was abandoned. I feel much better now.

If we can help you and other moderators in any sort of way (on top of reporting bad posts by using the “REPORT” icon and NOT commenting on spam topics), I'm sure that you will easily find volunteers, including myself. Just ask.

Long life to the forum

I had been doing a lot of cleaning until getting a bit swamped with life (starting and operating a brewery, having small kids)....

I disagree. As you know, I have replied to certain spam posts. It was an attempt at humour. Replying to spam posts on Forums makes zero diference to the recururrence of such posts and has nothing to do with moderation. The majority of spam posts are not made by humans. They are made by 'Spambots'. Google it. Perhaps if this Forum was actuallly moderated, you'd have a point.
