broken oring from fermentation vessel

Unread postby xa4 » Fri Nov 21, 2014 1:08 pm

Hello,

Yesterday I received my BM20L and two 30L Speidel fermentation vessels. I think I made a mistake by boiling the cap of the fermentation vessel with the oring: when I removed it from the water the oring was more like an s than an o.. Do you think I can glue it back ?

Thank you !

Yes you can glue O rings with super glue, just be careful to get it right the first time as there's little room for error, they stick quickly.
I often make up special O rings this way for my work, the O ring rubber section can be bought for this purpose.
Good luck with it.

Oh, I should say that you need only a little super glue, you don't want it all running down the O ring.

If this is the O-Ring at the top of the fermenter.. ask yourself.. do you really need it. I often work at a brewery that has open fermenters.. nothing covering it at all. Use the glued one until you can get another.
