Used the Hop Sieve for the fourth time today, but this time some hops (flowers) passed and blocked the output. Big disaster... I had to put the hot wort into another vessel and start the cooling procedure (hop rocket/plate chiller/pump/CCT) from that one.
Next time I go back to my good old hop bags. Also better for cleaning afterwards.

I prefer using hop cones and I've had the same happen. I noticed when the hop sieve is lowered it can easily trap the hops stuck to the side of the BM. I remove them before fitting the sieve :wink:

I always install the sieve before beforing adding water and the maltpipe.
It's the only way to see is it blocks the spigothole completely and secure IMHO. :cheers:

I have been pondering buying the hop sieve but the price is just too much for me, for that I could but 15 odd super fine hop bags which would probably last just as long.
