Ive tried it very shortly when i have more time i will test it some more. Speed was a bit slow and communications seem to be relayed through a german server.

They have the user guide on their website:

http://www.speidels-braumeister.de/en/s ... 015-en.pdf

Seems to be fairly basic functionality at the moment to be honest, I'm sure it will become more robust over time. If it's being made available via WiFi then full functionality should be available online, in my opinion.

Despite its downfalls i can see advantages, i could set my recipe and brewing liquor up the night before and start the water heating to strike temperature from my bed early in the morning, get up and add the malt and go back to bed for another hour or so :D

.................Actually i've just talked myself into ordering one, and of course a wifi booster to get the signal to my brewery / garage :D

Relayed through a German server what is that about?

Is my BM going to start spying on me like every other electronic device I have.

Hi, there is no relay to Speidel's servers, in fact the user interface is loaded from Seidel (html, JavaScript), but all data is requested from the BM directly. Fire up Chrome developer tools and you see what is going on.

@tommes: Good idea with the dev tools. Will have a look.

The IP adress changes every time i restart the BM. Have to look how to give it a static IP adress.

This wi fi sounds to me like it needs to be a lot more simple to understand and use than it is now for me to even remotely consider using it.

Yeah this is a problem for CCTV type stuff too.

I used an old phone to create 'BeerCam' - old phone has camera, new phone as viewer. Brilliant

Look into your router. Mine has the option to assign the very same IP to the MAC address. Otherwise give the BM a fixed IP, problem solved.
