Unread postby chris172 » Sun Jun 22, 2014 4:05 pm

As title... Ready to pull the trigger on a new BM20L

Whats the latest incarnation... IE... seen a post regarding the new lid etc... software version and the like.

Is it best to go through BrewUK or Vigo.... or direct to Spiegal.

Thanks for any advice :beerbang:

I don't know what the latest software version is. And I've only seen the new lid on a 50l model...

Oz11 just ordered a new 20l with the new hood, so when it arrives he can share the software version.

I will look.

It has arrived and been unpacked, not been plugged in or tested yet though. Hope to put a brew through it on Sunday, all being well.

You cannot go direct to Speidel unless you live in Germany. As far as I am aware the only recent change to the software is a hop addition time that appears on the digital readout.

On AHB there is a user (DeGarre) who has sent his control box to Speidel for a repair and they flashed it with the latest firmware. This is his comment after receiving back the box and doing his first brew with it:
DeGarre wrote:V4.01A. Seems to work fine. The new software has 3 hop schedules to key in, handy to remind of protafloc also.
The ventilation cycle in the beginning has definitely changed.

Have just received a New BM20 last week. Plus thermo sleeve and stainless steel lid.
My first Brew last monday (pilsner) wonderfull. Mash efficiency 81%.
Tap similar to other models. Pump worked straightforward.

Software: 5 mash shedules and 3 hop additions.
Boil: great rolling boil (setup at 102C).
Grain absortion: approx 0.73L/kg grain.
Evaporation rate: 2.7L/hour.
