replacing controls unit

I hopefully will be ordering a 20l unit with the short malt pipe very soon. I was wondering if anyone has considered changing the controller with the new grandfather unit if problems arise with the controller, I was just wondering if this was feasible should the need arise. The grandfather unit seems ok from what I have read and a lot cheaper than the Braumeister controller.. Sorry if this sounds a silly question. Thanks
