Braumeister 10l 2015 vs 2016 model

Unread post by LinkeBink »

Hello Hello!

I was just about to take the plunge on a Braumeister 10l 2015 model when i noticed one of the big brewstores in the Netherlands started offering a 2016 model. I've called them and they told me that it has an improved controller and ambilight but they weren't able to tell me any specifics. Could anyone enlighten me on the differences and if it's worth the extra buck.

Thanks in advance! :beerbang:

I have a original BM. With the original controller. I would not consider upgrading.

The benefits are...
Pretty lights
Ability to store 5 recipes
WiFi connection
Phone app

.. And makes the same beer as the original.

I personally don't want any of these, so from me the answer is no. However have you considered a 20l instead of a 10l ?

Hey Mashy,

Thanks for your reply. Ah I see! I have considered it but i live in a small apartment with a small storage space which limits my options. The amount of bottles should also be sufficient for my use, so I don't know if spending another 600 euro would be wise. I also reckon if I wanted to upgrade in the future I should have no trouble selling the Braumeister :)

why mess around with a big old 20L BM when you can get a cute little one you can wash in the sink!!

do you mean a 2017 model? i have the 2016 BM10 (the only model i am aware of) and i agree with mashy's assessment.

though i do love the coloured lights on mine, and change the colour every few brews, just because i can. wouldn't have paid more for them though!

And you can brew more often and get more variety. And because it's so easy you will want to do so.

Never thought of the space issue being all the bottles too. Good point.
Washing up in the sink... Yes indeed I spent a lot of time designing and fitting a lower pumped tap on my 20 'cos it was a PITA to clean easily.

My guess is that the "newer model" comes with upgraded software? Because, as far as I know, there is only one bm10-model

According to the OP it sounds like a few were made with the original controller.

@linkebink... Do you have pics? Or links?

Yea, I do have a link but I wasn't sure I am allowed to upload it :)

I've contacted Speidel itself and they told me that they didn't release a new 2016 model so it seems the shop got it wrong.. weird!

I am now properly confused.

Your link shows a new style controller.

Regardless of the size of kettle the old controller looks like this..

I have never seen or heard of this controller on a 10l

The BM10 was released with the new controller. It was never available with the original one
