Hi All!

I just received my BM 500 L. today, and I need to find a BM 500 profile for Beersmith. Does anyone have one or know where I can find one?
Thank you in advance,

Erik

I would have to say that you might be breaking new ground here!

Let us know how you go, but I haven't yet seen a 500L profile on the web anywhere as of yet...

I hope someone can hop on and help you work out how to calculate the settings..

Cheers,
Matt

Grain and Grape have one and use it for their fresh wort kits. Perhaps give them a call and see if they can help you out, B.M. owners normally happily help each other out.

So you starting a micro? I dream of this often.

Hi Erik,

Any luck on the Beersmith profile? We just got the 500L and will be setting it up in place of the 200L in the next few weeks. We are working on the profile, so would be good to compare any notes. Any tips on the 500L would also be appreciated since you are a few months down the line. We had many costly experiences with the 200L that would be great to avoid with the 500L.

Cheers,

Andy & Glynn.

This member memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=533
apparently has a 500 and a 50 model.

He may have a Beersmith Profile for the big one if you care to contact him.

Hi Andy and Glynn!

I am about to brew my first batch with the BM500 on wednesday. I feel quite well set up but it would be nice to exchange experiences with the 500 users out there.

You mentioned you had some costly experiences with the 200L version. May I ask what these were?

I myself have been on a 20L for some years but now we are stepping up and launching a brewery on a part time basis.

Cheers!

Hi guys,

I am just about to purchase a 500 l BM. Did any of you have any luck searching for 500 l BM profile?

I would appreciate any help on this.

Cheers.

How did you go? We have just bought a 500L. Had one brewday on it so far. Will be doing 4 brews next week, so should have a better idea of the equip profile.
From the first brew, here is what I measured: (this is all from memory, so check back end of next week for more accurate numbers)
Loss to trub and chiller ~30L
Evap ~50L
Absorption 0.75L/kg - crush dependant of course
Ramp times were 0.5°C / minute
Boiled with the lid half on.

I've got a 200 and would love a profile if any of you have one already :)

What were the costly mistakes by the way on the 200 - would love to know more!

Did anyone ever find a profile for the 500l. I just got one and I am trying to figure out hop utilisation and yeast pitch rate. The Braumeister recipes call for 3 packages of yeast and Mr Malty/Beersmith call for 15 to 20. Big difference there! Any help would be appreciated. Cheers!

Pitch rate is pretty much 0.75 - 1.0g/L depending on OG.
We pitch 500g into 550L just because its useless to save a bit from a brick.
I did read that 3 packet stuff in the manual. Thats more likely a 50L brew.
