New user and brewed a lambic and a couple of other wild ales

Unread postby Lindh » Sat Dec 20, 2014 8:35 am

My name is Gustav, I'm from Sweden and I just bought one of the last BM50 of the old version. I've been brewing with a Rubbermaid cooler for a couple of years and prefer to brew hoppy ales, hefeweizen, sour beers and sometimes pils. I just made my second batch with the BM50 and this time I made wort for lambics and other wild ales with a turbid mash. I have a lot of brewing pictures and texts on my brewblog which is in swedish but google translate can make a somewhat understandable version of it: https://translate.google.se/translate?s ... t=&act=url
Looking forward to nice discussions about this magical piece of machinery!

I guess I speak Swedish pretty well. Or maybe Google Translate was on.
What an awesome job of the pictures. I love the black and white shots.

Welcome! You spend almost as much time taking pictures as you spend on brewing. I appreciate that!

Did you make those wooden "crates" for your fermentors yourself?

No the crates are original and probably from the 60s. The damejeannes are somewhat common on the flea markets around Sweden and they usually come with the crates. The smaller bottles where once the commercial way to sell very weak kind-of-beer called svagdricka ("light drink") that has fallen in popularity the last 50 years. Around 2% ABV and tastes almost like it was diluted with coca cola.

Thanks! I put some effort in the photography since its my occupation. I want my beers to look nice =)
