1m% agree with that. I personally wouldn't do a 10 as a compromise. It will always be a compromise...

funny how BM users are promoting the GF. (+1 here)

Its even harder if you are being asked for a recommendation for a present.

I love my BM and would recommend it - if you buy one with an older controller.

I wouldn't waste your time getting a 10L version, you can always buy a 10l malt pipe for about 70 quid, to add to a 20L GF or BM if he prefers smaller scale brews. 10l brew wouldn't last that long in my house :drink: but its good to have a 10L malt pipe for recipe experimenting purposes if he wants to go down that route sometime.

If he gets a 10L kit, then your kit will always be bigger than his....might not go down too well

i know what you mean chaps. ive got the 10 litres malt pipe myself. Bought it with the BM two years ago and its still unused. Dont think i'll ever use it now as i am looking to start split brews next year, but my thinking was price wise the BM10 might be only option BM wise. Also he doesn't drink as much as me so it may suit!

then, for me the GF is the best option as: £675 (GF new connect version) vs ~£1K for a 10L BM....no brainer to me, but only my view of course.
