Re: Which grain mill?

I use a zip tie or Velcro tie to throttle the drill to desired rpms. Been happy with the barley crusher w/extended hopper.

Re: Pump Cleaning

In addition I place a wine cork under the lip while upside down to allow drying. It got a bit musty once before I started doing that.

Should be fine. Hydrating the yeast can help, but not necessary. Have fun!

Lager Yeast

What is your favorite lager yeast to use for most beers?

For a majority of ales I use safale us-05. Always had good luck with it - harvest, store, and reuse. Would like to do the same with lagers.

Thanks!!

Re: Sparging - To agitate the spent grains or not?

I do not bother with it. Didn't find that it made enough (if any) difference to mess with. Other people do.

I am a believer! Made one and then my wife got one for me as a gift. Purchased one is easier to place and clean.

It really isn't. The filter is super quick and easy to clean out and in turn makes the chiller the same. Just my preferred chiller and thought I would share.

I have a filter preceding my plate chiller. No cleaning issues.
