Re: Controller Screen Condensation

I agree. But I still want to know how the moisture enters the controller. It could be that the gasket between the two halves is not sealing correctly. The curved front panel appears to be glued to the controller body I suspect this may not be an airtight seal. The size of the heatsink on the rear o...

Re: Stainless pint pots

Every time you put your stainless steel pot in a dishwasher the 'seasoning ', if it truly exists, will be removed. The ONLY way to drink beer is in a glass. This is clearly not true as every time you put a stainless steel pot in the dishwasher, it would rust. I guarantee if you put your stainless s...

Re: Stainless pint pots

Russian River Brewing use stainless pots for their outside drinking area at New Windsor Cal. These are plain ones, they sell branded ones in the shop. I bought a couple home last August, initially they had a noticeable metallic taste which I found disappointing. Now after 3 months of use with many ...

Re: Stainless pint pots

As beer is acidic, I do wonder if there is a taste issue with these pots.

Re: Kegging to bottling

The main reason I want to bottle and keep them at keller temperature is due to space as I only have one fridge I can keep the keg in for 7 days and then I need it to ferment more beer. On another note can kegged ale be kept at room temp or does that have to be chilled in a keg too The only thing th...

Re: Sparging

I mashed with 4.7kg of grain I firmly believe it was down to me not milling the grain correctly as my mill is a entry level mill I think you may have over sparged. I sparge at the rate of 1L per 1kg of grain in the mash tube. I also remove the two top plates. Then I use a jug to pour water gently o...

"You can take a horse to water but you cannot make it drink'" Similarly "You can give a person all the information but you cannot make them think" Easy now So far you haven’t convinced anybody with arguments Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I would agree that there are design flaws with the BM (f...

Re: Rubber strip

Here's my tuppence worth on the subject. I think the upper plate is supposed to move for the best extraction. The upper plate and filter allows the upward flow of wort to be spread across the entire surface of the rising grains in a consistent manner. Without the flow control and restriction imposed...

Re: B.M. 50L + mash tun deadspace

I'm not sure if my comment is helpful or not, but I also use Beersmith for my BM. I work on the basis of a 10L dead space, but enter this as recoverable, that is, no overall loss. I use a BAC helix filter in my 50L BM and use negative pressure to drain it via a Chugger pump through a CFC to the ferm...

Re: New Product : Low Oxygen Brewing Kit

It might actually be that Speidel is trying to offer their own to that from BacBrewing : https://www.bacbrewing.com/en/parts-for-braumeister/33-increase-disc-for-bm10bm10plus-fine-mesh-filter-09x09-mm.html Has anyone used one of these, it's about half the price of Speidel's. I've used the BAC one i...

Re: New controller

Speidel customer service is absolute crap. I had similar problems with a faulty controller, which was eventually replaced at half-cost. Apparently, poor customer service is all too typical of German companies, verified by two German friends of mine.

Re: Bottom of my BM50 not leveled, worth escaping under the

Whenever I drop and place my malt pipe I twist it from side to side to make sure it is seated flat. So easy to get it right that way. Can't understand how some get it caught on the nut.

Re: Hops spider that fits BM10

I bought and tried one of the Arbor hop filters. My advice is, don't bother. There is nothing wrong with their construction, indeed, they are built very well. It is just that they prevent efficient circulation of the hops - be it pellet or flowers. The water inside the filter does not boil. When you...

Re: Wort Fountain Issue Resolved

It's funny how people have different experiences of this phenomena. Using the plates in the normal way and stirring the grains well I have never had a wort fountain. The only time I did have a fountain was when I put a stainless steel pipe over the central rod to stop the plates from moving. On this...
